Twenty-Five Years In

Dear Dungarees,

An anniversary story.

Once upon a time a little boy and a little girl lived life carefree not knowing what the future would hold and not knowing the other existed.

Until one day, many years later in a magical place called the 90s, the not-so-little girl and not-so-little boy collide. They fall in love for all the wrong reasons (and a few of the right ones), get married, start a life, have kids, and together they choose the road less traveled for their journey. It was a different road than many of their friends took. On the path, they were often alone except for wise ones who had traveled the same path before them. (The best company to have on such a journey in their opinion)

Many years of sunrises and sunsets have passed. Their marriage was not always pretty (at times many of the wise ones held the girl and boys' hands and lifted their hearts to the one who is, was, and is to come). Some years their marriage was a celebration of life, resiliency, and hope (and those same wise ones celebrated with them, ate cake, laughed, kissed cheeks, and laughed more). One day, 25 years had passed after he said “I do” and she said, “I do”. The boy and girl together, woke up to the morning sunrise and celebrated the magic, growth, struggles, and beauty of their marriage. Happy 25th anniversary to those kids today. And many thanks to the wise ones who continue to journey with them.
